Co-Director of Village Yoga, Jessica Moody, began practicing yoga in 2007. Ever since discovering Yoga, she has taken her practice around the world and lived seasonally on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In 2013 she co-founded Village Yoga, a social entrepreneurship and yoga studio on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
In 2012 Jess completed Wilmington Yoga Center’s 200-hour Kunga Yoga Lifestyle and Teacher Training with Kristin Cooper and has dedicated herself to teaching ever since. In the Spring of 2015 Jess completed her 500-hour certification, and a professional mentorship with Kristin Cooper and the Kunga Yoga School. Since 2014 she has guest taught 200-hour training programs and is a certified Kunga Yoga teacher trainer at the professional level. Jess has also taught with non-profits and in retreat settings in Mexico, Costa Rica, and India.
She holds certificates in 5Elements Vinyasa Flow, with advanced studies in Power Vinyasa, Restorative & Senior Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Kids Yoga, and Yoga for PTSD and trauma sensitive populations. Jess would like to recognize her primary teachers Kristin Cooper, Noelle Whittington, and Larry Hobbs. She has also studied with other inspirational teachers such as Kathryn Budig, Michael Johnson, Rolf Gates, and Tiffany Cruikshank.
Within her studio and other public classes Jess strives to create a spiritually and physically progressive, yet fun, yoga practice that challenges her students to unlock their ultimate potentials and strive for their highest selves. Jess’ vision as a yoga teacher is to continue to spread yoga as a path of service, and to inspire students to live with unconditional self love. When she’s not on the mat you can find her in the ocean riding waves, or searching for beach treasures with her dog, Waylon.
