Service Leadership & Yoga for Trauma Sensitive Populations Teacher Training

This 3-day course will cover Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the impact of trauma on the brain and the body, current treatments and the subjective experience of the survivor. The workshop focus will be on why and how to modify yoga to make it more trauma-sensitive. David Emerson is the Director of Yoga Services at the Trauma Center at JRI in Brookline Massachusetts, where yoga has been used as an adjunct treatment for PTSD for several years with a variety of groups, from survivors of chronic childhood abuse and neglect, to teenagers, to war veterans. Examples of integrating trauma-sensitive yoga into all of these communities will be given.
