About Kunga Yoga

At their heart, our Kunga Yoga Programs are designed to inspire all people to pursue a healthy lifestyle, give of their time and energy to the community and work to become an agent of positive change in the world. The word “Kunga” was chosen in an effort to honor the very first group of orphaned children our yoga community partnered with in 2006, a group of Rwandan children that had been orphaned by the 1994 genocide.

The Kunga mission of service is achieved through a focus on supporting the planet, it’s people, and all beings, through three distinct platforms: Kunga Yoga public classes, the Kunga Yoga Teacher Training School, and Kunga Journeys volunteer service retreats. All platforms are fundraising vehicles and opportunities to educate the public about various causes and non-profits that Kunga Yoga partners with.  All three Kunga platforms are offered at various locations throughout the world led by our founder, Kristin Cooper-Gulak, by senior leaders and faculty, and by Kunga Yoga teacher training graduates.

Through our Kunga Yoga programs, we strive to encourage connection and acceptance between cultures. We accomplish this by teaching individuals how to see their personal yoga practice and healthy life-style habits as a chance to be of service to others-all people and all beings. We will never stop working to connect volunteers, donors, yoga students, and yoga teachers with the those that need their support, both at home and abroad.
